THE LSPHCB PRESENTS ITS STATE-SPECIFIC PHC HUMAN RESOURCE FOR HEALTH (HRH) PROFILING AND 10 YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board today presented its State-Specific Primary Health Care Human Resource for health (HRH) profiling and it’s 10 year Strategic plan, after the development of the draft.
The four-day workshop which started on Monday 16th of May 2022, had the legislative arm of
the Lagos State Government, health institutions, health regulatory bodies, Ministry of health, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board in attendance, in drafting the strategic plan meant to assist the state in strengthening the PHC system and the building of an effective and efficient Human Resource for Health (HRH) for the PHCs.
The Human Resource for Health (HRH) strategic plan is an expression of commitment to the HRH goals and a guide to action for health personnel managers. It also highlights what the state wants to achieve in the area of HRH, identify and provide frame work within which the human resource activities can be coordinated and implemented.
The Permanent Secretary to the LSPHCB Dr. Ibrahim A. Mustafa while welcoming the delegates, stressed on the state of staff attrition which is plaguing the health sector, and cuts across the different cadres. In his words, “I am hopeful that the deliberation on what will be the PHC HRH strategic plan over the next ten years, will harmonize with and sustain the present administration’s THEMES agenda”.
The HRH strategic plan development at the Primary Health Care level, will serve as roadmap to ensure availability and proper distribution of the PHC health workforce. It will also facilitate dialogue for HRH financing for positive health outcome, through an improved coverage and coordination of health services with adequate provision for the HRH as required.
