LSPHCB Technical Working Group on HPV Vaccine and Supplementary Immunisation Activity meets today at LCCI, Ikeja.
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board convened its Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine and Supplementary Immunisation Activity (SIA) Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting today at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Center, Ikeja.
The HPV Vaccine and SIA TWG seek to collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure a successful routinization of the HPV vaccination program and implementation of other SIAs in the State. The group’s objectives include:
Developing communication strategies to increase awareness and advocate for HPV vaccination and other immunization activities
Addressing logistical and operational challenges during the vaccination process.
Engaging with parents, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to address concerns and promote routine Immunization and HPV vaccine uptake
Dr. Veronica Ayo-Vaughan Iwayemi, Deputy Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, stated that the meeting aimed to update participants on the HPV vaccine’s introduction into the Routine Immunization schedule in Lagos State. She also emphasized the need to “chart a pathway to the routinization of the HPV vaccine, update participants on the upcoming Integrated Supplemental Immunization Activity (SIA) in the state, and acquaint participants with their roles, responsibilities, and deliverables during the SIA in Lagos State.”

Dr. Adetola Akinpelu, Lagos State Immunisation Program Coordinator, encouraged stakeholders present to engage with parents, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to address concerns and promote HPV vaccine uptake.
