LSPHCB, NPHCDA & Partners Train Frontline Health Workers on Integrated Services
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and supporting partners, has successfully concluded a comprehensive 10-day training program designed to enhance the skills and capacity of frontline health workers for improved service delivery at the primary health care (PHC) level.
The training provided a comprehensive refresher course to PHC frontline health workers from across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state. In each LGA, four trainers, along with one State trainer each, were selected and had their capacity built to serve as facilitators, ensuring that all participants received consistent and effective guidance throughout the program.
In his welcome address, Dr. Abimbola Bowale, the Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, commended the dedication of health workers in delivering essential services at their respective facilities. “The continuous training and retraining of frontline health workers in primary health care facilities, as facilitated by the NPHCDA, is crucial to ensuring that health workers are well-equipped to deliver effective services at the PHC level across the nation,” he stated.
Dr. Bowale informed that the training aims to develop a comprehensive and skilled workforce capable of delivering high-quality integrated health services in primary health care centers. He noted that improving healthcare outcomes and accelerating progress towards universal health coverage depend on the capacity of health workers to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and deliver quality care.
