LSPHCB MARKS WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY
The Directorate of Environmental Health Services at the Primary Health Care Board in conjunction with the Lagos State Chapter of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria marked World Environmental Health Day 2024. This year’s theme, “Environmental Health: Creating Resilient Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation,” emphasizes the vital role of environmental health in enhancing community resilience amid increasing emergencies. San. Abdullai Yusau Olawale, the Director of Environmental Health Services in his address, urged all Environmental Health Officers in Lagos State to reaffirm their commitment to environmental protection and community health, emphasizing the importance of collective action for a sustainable future. Key activities included sensitization campaigns on climate change, community clean-up exercises, the distribution of educational materials, and stakeholder engagements focused on climate mitigation strategies. The objective was to raise awareness and mobilize community action on environmental health issues, fostering resilience against climate-related disasters.
