Mr. Kadiku Olawale

Kadiku Olawale Olorunkemi was born on the 22nd of June, 1973 to the illustrious Shaluwala – Kadiku family of Ita – alagbain Lagos Island Division of Lagos State. He attended Tender Age Children School, Apapa Road Lagos, Kadara Primary School, Ebute- Meta before proceeding to Saint Catherine’s Model School Yaba, Surulere, Lagos where he obtained Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1983. He attended the prestigious Government College, Eric Moore, Surulere, Lagos, from 1984 and obtained West African School Certificate in 1989. He attended University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria where he obtained B.Sc (Biochemistry) and M.Sc (Chemistry) in 1995 and 1998 in 2nd Class Upper and Distinction grades respectively. He did his National Youth Service Corps at Union Bank of Nigeria PLC, Garden Avenue Enugu between 1996/97where he worked an Entries Clerk.  

He attended the London Academy for Higher Education and Birmingham City University between year 2009 and 2011 respectively where he obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies and MBA (Management) respectively.

He started his career with the Lagos State Civil Service on the 1st of March 2000 as a Scientific Officer II in the then Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning and has occupied several strategic positions which are chronicled below starting with his current post:

He has participated in several Technical reviews, Public hearings and Impact Mitigation Monitoring Exercises on Environmental Impact Assessmentprojects organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment for developmental projects situated in Lagos state in various fields / disciplines. Some of these projects include: Construction of Oil Tank Farms, Gas Pipeline Construction projects, Construction of Sewage and Effluent Treatment Plants, construction of Jetties/ harbours, Lekki Free Trade Zone project, construction of golf course amongst a host of others. Some of these projects include :

  • Member of monitoring team on sand dredging and mining projects in the five divisions of the state           
  • Member of the Impact mitigation monitoring team to West Africa Gas Pipeline project at Ajido, Badagry LGA

He was a member of Review Committee on Environmental Laws of Lagos State and Study Group on the Identification and Designation of Ramsar Sites in Lagos State.

During his sojourn in the United Kingdom as an MBA student while on study leave between year 2009 and 2011, he worked at GBM Support Services, and Initial Transport Services, United Kingdom therefore affording him the opportunity of understanding the concept of national culture, management in diverse/wider environment and organizational diversities.

He has the singular honor of being the youngest and most junior officer as a Grade Level 9 Scientific Officer at the Lagos state Ministry of the Environment, Alausa Secretariat to represent the State at the National Council on Environmental meeting held at Calabar in 2005 (The highest Organ of decision making on Environmental matters in the country). States are usually represented on the Council by Honorable Commissioners for Environment and Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Environments.

His core skills include: Leadership (highly initiative and enterprising); communication and listening; teamwork/team building; problem solving/conflict resolution; planning and organizing; self-/interpersonal-management; learning/decision making;andtechnological/conceptual amongst a host of others.

His core areas of specialization /competence include:Research and Development (Project Management: Design, Planning and Implementation; writing of proposals, reports, Terms of References (TORs), Document reviews /appraisal ; Public Speaking (Lecturing and delivery of lectures at seminars, workshops); Change Management : Leading and Managing change (Business Process Re – engineering / Change Management /Organizational Turning Around).

In his current position and short stint as the Coordinating Director of the Board, he has turned around the fortunes of Board in the areas of change in organizational culture, introduction of innovative programmes : Medical outreach and Stress management course into the curriculum of the Six Weeks Orientation Training Programme for Traditional Medicine Practitioners in the State; constitution of Task Force for the monitoring of Traditional Medicine Practice in the five geographical divisions of the State (IBILE); resuscitation of Epe divisional office of the Board; resuscitation of collaboration with NGOs and development partners locally and globally; publication of newsletter;and tremendous improvement in the Internally Generated Revenue of the Board. He is the editorial Board Chairman of the Board’s newsletter a bi – monthly publication showcasing the practice of Traditional Medicine in the State. He is an avid reader with great passion for knowledge acquisition,loves listening to music, adept at managing interpersonal relations activities and enjoys playing football.    

Some of hispublications include : Isolation of Albumins and Globulins from Cowpeas (Vignaunguiculata) and Beans (Phaseolusvulgaris); Production of Alcohol from Cassava and Potato peels using salivary Amylase and Amyloglucosidase; The impact of Incentives on Employees Performance: A case study of Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, Alausa Secretariat, Lagos, Nigeria; Reconnaissance Survey of Wetlands in Lagos State: Report prepared for the Wetland Management Unit, Department of Conservation and Ecology, Lagos State Ministry of the Environment in 2016; The role of Traditional Medicine in the Universal Healthcare Delivery System in Lagos State amongst a host of others.

He is a devout Muslim and happily married.
