Mrs. George Omowunmi
Mrs. George Omowunmi trained ab initio as a Nurse and worked in many hospitals in Lagos State. Consequent upon additional qualification of Bachelors degree in Health Education from the Lagos State University (LASU), she transferred her service to the mainstream public service in 1999. Worked in various units in the then Primary Health Care Department of the Ministry of Health before finally settling at the Health Education Unit
On the acquisition of an added degree of Masters in Public Health (MPH), she moved to head the Health Advocacy and Communication (Health Promotion and Education) Unit of the Directorate, a position she occupied till her statutory retirement as a substantive director (GL 17) in 2016.
During her tenure, the State responded to life threatening epidemic outbreaks and the unit alongside others were part of the success story of the response. Notable among this is the Ebola epidemic response. She was instrumental to the development of so many Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) materials (posters, handbills, leaflets) too numerous to mention. These materials made the Ministry of Health a repository of materials which every individual/group/organizations had accessed when needed.
