Budgeting and Planning

The Planning Research and Statistics Unit was previously under the supervision of the then Finance and Administration Directorate. However, in June 2010, the State Executive Council (EXCO) approved the creation of Planning Units in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government. This was notified for general information service-wide vide Head of Service Circular Ref No CIR/HOS/10/VOL.I/73.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Since its creation, the Unit has been responsible for:

  1. Preparation of Annual Budget, Implementation Monitoring and Control;
  2. Project Monitoring and Evaluation;
  3. Monthly Rendition of Revenue and Expenditure Return to MEPB;
  4. Management of Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS);
  5. Preparation/Review of Performance Management Reports;
  6. Forwarding monthly Expenditure request to MEPB;
  7. Collection of approval of expenditure request;
  8. Appraisal of Budget Performance; and
  9. Uploading Budget into Oracle.
